Shhhh… here’s an additional tip for you: Why don’t you combine your stay in Vienna with a wonderful excursion to Salzburg, the famous City of Mozart! Museums at Getreidegasse, his birthplace, and at his former residence on Makartplatz are two of the many striking places to remember Mozart. The spirit of this extraordinary musician can be felt at basically every corner of Salzburg's old town. On top of that, you can explore the Fortress Hohensalzburg with its breathtaking view over the city while savoring the original ‘Mozartkugel’ delicacy.
Now how about a hint of romance? In the evening you can stroll around through the enchanting Mirabell Gardens and enjoy the luminous ‘Leuchtbrunnen’ concert, free of charge. This authentic spectacle takes place every Wednesday at 8.30 pm from May until the end of August, charming its audience with rhythmic sounds of local brass musicians. All of this in the setting of the illuminated Four Elements Fountain in the Mirabell Gardens under a sparkling starry sky – truly magical…
The name Strauss also never fails to delight every musician's heart: the legendary Austrian family dynasty produced several world-famous musicians. Johann Strauss I composed the highly acclaimed Radetzky March and his son Johann Strauss is considered theWaltz King: his timeless masterpiece The Blue Danube is even considered the unofficial national/ Viennese anthem. The other two sons of the Strauss dynasty, Josef & Eduard, were also renowned composers. The members of the Strauss dynasty were definitely born under a lucky (musical :) star, and there is a reason for the famous quotation that says:
"The Strauss family is a cosmos in its own right that cannot be compared with anything in the world."
A short Strauss route through Vienna takes you from the original apartment** of Johann Strauss II to the Museum of the Johann Strauss dynasty**. Afterwards, treat yourself to an extensive promenade with bright sunshine through the beautiful Stadtpark, where you'll discover the golden Monument of Johann Strauss II**, one of Vienna's most popular photographic motifs.
... and one more little extra treat: drop by the famous House of Music**, Vienna's interactive experience and sound museum, where you can be a virtual conductor for the day! Try your hand at conducting the Blue Danube Waltz or the Radetzky March while the world-renowned Vienna Philharmonic (through video projection) obeys you.
