Giant-Organ-Concerts at Stephansdom
The impressive Organo sounds of Vienna's famous St. Stephen's Cathedral will carry you away in the magical musical ecperience.

Listen to a concert on the new Giant Organ at St. Stephen's Cathedral in Vienna! Mighty sounds from more than 12,000 pipes fill one of the most beautiful churches in the world on one of the biggest organ units of Europe. In the organ concerts, world-class organists play a wide-ranging programme from Bach over Reger to gems of organ music.
The Giant Organ is part of the organ landscape of St. Stephen's Cathedral, which is one of the largest organ systems in Europe, with its more than 12,000 pipes, five manuals and 130 stops. Although the Giant Organ is truly enormous, its name does not refer to the size of the instrument, but comes from the main portal of St. Stephen's Cathedral below it, the Giant Gate. From the mobile console, the giant organ and the choir organ in the side aisle can be played together.
During the devastating cathedral fire in April 1945, the old Giant Organ (90 stops) built by Eberhard Walcker in 1886 burned on the west gallery of St. Stephen's Cathedral. In 1960, the new Giant Organ (125 stops) built by Viennese organ builder Johann M. Kaufmann was consecrated on this site, but it only played for about 35 years and was then out of service for a long time as a silent wreck. This instrument was completely redesigned by Rieger Orgelbau in 2017-2020, using old pipes and keeping the appearance of 1960, but equipped with the newest technology.
The new console is centrally located in the nave, so you can watch the organists play the five manuals with masterful virtuosity. Blow you can find all information on the, dates, organists and their programme. A truly enveloping sound experience awaits you.
